Metal prints are waterproof and scratch-resistant and are avilable
in a satin or glossy finish.
The satin finish gives much the same effect that a photograph
behind non-glare glass does. The glossy finish is highly reflective
which makes the colors pop and gives an almost three-dimensional effect, but in
direct light will be somewhat mirror-like with the surroundings.
Each metal print has a metal holder on the back that
serves as the hanger to put it on the wall. The advantages are that you
do not have the additional expense of matting and framing; it gives you
more area for the photo itself; and the overall weight is perhaps 1/3 of
the matted and framed traditional print. You might compare a regular TV
with a flat screen TV, the metal print being more like the latter.
